Utilities and services
Councils are responsible for a wide range of utilities and services that we all rely on, from rubbish and recycling to street cleaning. Councils are currently also responsible for managing waste water, storm water and drinking water infrastructure – the ‘Three Waters’. But that may be about to change, with central government seeking to shift the delivery of Three Waters services to four new larger entities, which could borrow enough to upgrade the country’s water infrastructure.

Prioritise Marton and Bulls for unacceptable water standards by establishing start and finish.
Continue working with government on permits and registrations which are a work in progress.
Maintain alert systems that check off the four Rs: reduction, readiness and response, and recovery, with latter sorted by adequate first three.
Promote the 'Six Waters' framework to include flooding and climate impacts, health and wellbeing, and the spiritual connection to water.
Advocate for flood resilience upgrades in vulnerable areas across the region.
