Why I'm standing

I care deeply about this district where I was born and want a council that does better at the basics. I'm concerned about our finances, especially affordability, but I can also see opportunities that could unlock an exciting future, that need strategic thinking and collaboration involving diverse stakeholders. I have the track record to successfully lead such an approach and provide a strong voice for rural communities.

About me

I know how council operates, being a 4-term councillor for Pirongia-Kakepuku Ward and have learned that listening is important. My business career in finance and my leadership roles in community organisations spanning 30 years equip me well. I have a 1st Class Honours BBS Management degree, and chartered membership of the New Zealand Institute of Directors. As instigator of the successful ecological corridor project between Maungatautari and Pirongia, I have proven collaborative capabilities.

My priorities
  1. Fix finances to ensure rates remain affordable.
  2. Control growth debt so debt headroom exists to progress community projects.
  3. Improve transparency and open up council business to improve trust and confidence.
