Bay of Plenty Regional Council

Tauranga General Constituency
The Bay of Plenty Regional Council makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 14 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). five councillors will be elected from the Tauranga constituency. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I love the Bay of Plenty and feel very lucky to live here and want to contribute to its stewardship through the regional council, and ensure the best outcomes for the region's environment and community are prioritised and improved with any changes that occur to local government.

About me

I bring a collaborative voice to the important conversations that are occurring on the region's future. I have practical experience in the local and central government sectors from previous work. I also have governance experience through my current roles with conservation organisations, including national president of Forest & Bird, and board trust member of Save the Kiwi, Aongatete Forest Project and Manaaki Kaimai Mamaku Trust.

My priorities
  1. Improve water quality in lakes, rivers and harbours and enhance unique biodiversity.
  2. Invest in natural infrastructure so communities are resilient to climate instability.
  3. Support connected communities.
