Levin General Ward
The Horowhenua District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). five councillors will be elected from the Levin ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Scrutinise the phasing, cost allocation model and capital project delivery of the growth-supporting infrastructure programme.

  • Encourage labour intensive industry to set up in Levin, including market gardens which are also labour intensive.

  • Protect parking available for local businesses on Oxford Street.

    Explore a partnership with local iwi to maximise and utilise Lake Horowhenua for the community and for tourism.

  • Support local businesses with easier council processes and rates that are fair.

    Invest in key infrastructure to attract and retain business.

    Develop Levin town centre as a hub for retail, cultural activity and hospitality.
