Mayor of Wellington

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. I have tasted the delicious creatures swimming in our awa but I believe we all deserve to enjoy the bounty that Pōneke Wellington has to offer. Kua kai ahau i ngā ngarara o te awa. Heoi anō mā te hapori ngā hua katoa nei o Pōneke!

About me

I am a charming fiendishly friendly figure who has turned even threatening foes into friends. I have first-hand experience of the piped awa of this fine city and have seen their sorry state. He tino kaha ahau ki te whakahoa, ā, kua kite hoki au i te ahuatanga o ngā paipa ki aku ake karu.

My priorities
  1. Rewild Wellington and bring back the ngahere to central Wellington. Whakahoki ngahere mai!
  2. Ready the city for the twenty-first century and make the Basin Swamp again. Hanga Repo Anō ki Hauwai!
  3. Revitalise public transport using giant tuna and de-extincted moa. Hangaia te ara ki te anamata!
